Nicole Scherzinger: my bulimia was my addiction

Nicole Scherzinger recently revealed her battle with an eating disorder, confessing that "bulimia was my addiction."

The former Pussycat Dolls member made her comments on VH1's "Behind the Music" and said that she had never spoken about her struggle with her body and admited that it was "embarrassing" to talk about.

"I guess it was like my addiction, right? I never did drugs but kind of doing things to myself was my addiction," Scherzinger said in a clip from the episode. "It's like when I got offstage, I was on this high, and I'd come back to my room and I'd be alone, so I would just do things, my bulimia was my addiction. Hurting myself was my addiction."

The Hawaiian-born singer said that she suffered from bulimia for about a decade and her fellow band-mates said that they knew about her eating disorder and noticed the acid burns on her fingers and her diminishing size.

"Every time I had a second to be alone, I was doing something to myself," she continued. "You get, like, blisters on your hands or scars on your hands, and I'd try to hide those. I think the girls could tell... I hated myself. I really was so disgusted with myself and so embarrassed. I felt so alone. I was in a group, and I never felt so alone in my life."

"Behind the Music" will explore Scherzinger's childhood, battle with bulimia and struggles with her appearance, stemming from growing up Polynesian in the Midwest.

In January, it was announced that Scherzinger and host Steve Jones would not return for the second season of the FOX series. Scherzinger and her fellow judge Paula Abdul were replaced by Britney Spears and Demi Lovato, who appear opposite Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid on the panel.

Scherzinger has since signed on to be a judge on "The X Factor" in the UK. She is also continuing to work on her second solo music, following the release of her 2011 debut album, "Killer Love."

Nicole Scherzinger's "Behind the Music" is slated to air on Sunday, October 7 at 9 p.m. ET on VH1. Watch a promo below.

Rihanna debuts 'Nude' fragrance ad

Rihanna donned a peach bikini top and wrapped herself in peach chiffon for the sexy ad for her new fragrance, "Nude."

"Here is my new add for a brand new fragrance #NUDE !!! Make sure you smell sexy, especially naked, this fall," Rihanna wrote on Twitter on October 5.

The R&B and pop star's manufacturer, Parlux, also offers fragrances endorsed by Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson and Queen Latifah.

Rihanna released her first fragrance, "Reb'l Fleur," in February 2011. Her second fragrance, "Rebelle," was released in December 2011.

The fragrance ad was released a few days after Rihanna's ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, who was convicted of assaulting her in 2009, broke up with his girlfriend Karrueche Tran. Brown cited his "friendship with Rihanna" as the reason for the split.

Rumors of a possible reconciliation between Brown and Rihanna have been floating around for months, fuelled in part by their collaboration on two tracks in February and a public kiss at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 6.

Rihanna has not commented on the reports, except to write on Twitter, "Ain't nobody bidness..... But mine and my baby!"

Kate Gosselin: 'Jon & Kate Plus 8' didn't cause divorce

Kate Gosselin appeared on Katie Couric's new talk show "Katie" on October 2 and said that she doesn't think filming the TLC reality series 'Jon & Kate Plus 8' caused her divorce.

"A lot of people try to pin reality TV and say, 'My gosh. It ended in divorce. Big surprise.' We went through a lot. The signs were always there, and obviously having eight kids in a short span of time didn't help that," Gosselin told Couric. "And I'm not at all blaming my kids, I'm just saying."

Kate and Jon Gosselin became famous thanks to the popularity of their TLC reality show "Jon & Kate Plus 8," which starred their twins and sextuplets, now ages 11 and 8, and debuted in 2007. The often-squabbling parents became one of the most popular - and mocked - reality stars at the time. The two divorced in 2009 after ten years of marriage and the series continued production without Jon and its name was changed to "Kate Plus 8." The new show ended its run in 2011.

"I know the red flags were always there. So looking back, had you never heard the names Jon and Kate Gosselin, I'm certain that I would be in that spot now," Gosselin continued. "It's hard because like any mom I just want the best for my kids."

The 37-year-old mother of eight also told Couric that her kids want her to date.

"For whatever reason it comes up at dinner like every single night, and they bring it up," Gosselin said. "I think that they miss that man role in our house, and the more hands on, full-time sort of feel. So for them, you know I had the frank discussion the other day, I said it's not something I can go to the store and buy."

Kate told Dr. Drew Pinsky on a February episode of his CW series "Lifechangers" that she is lonely and is not sure she is ready to date yet, or whether she will find someone would can "deal with eight kids."

Kate had told Peoplein June 2011 that things between her and her ex-husband have "just naturally gotten more peaceful."

Jon, 35, recently apologized for his behavior, telling People magazine, "I am sorry, because I did stuff I wouldn't want done to me."

In 2009, days after the couple announced their divorce, Jon went on a vacation with his younger former-girlfriend, Hailey Glassman. People said Gosselin is currently living and working in Pennsylvania as director of sales and promotions for Gameface Int. and that he is currently dating a 27-year-old single mother named Liz Jannetta.

Anderson Cooper slams Star Jones over post-coming out comment

Anderson Cooper has fired back at Star Jones who said that his coming out as gay was a ploy for higher ratings.

Jones made her comment on the "Today" show in July, asking if Cooper came out "for ratings." The host told Bravo's Andy Cohen on "Anderson Live" on Thursday, October 4 that he received a lot of support from fans, but was not pleased by Jones' accusation, especially since his show wasn't on air at the time.

"If I was wanting to boost ratings, I would've waited to announce it on like 'a very special episode' that would've been promo'd for weeks and weeks. There would've been commercials [that said] 'Anderson's huge announcement and you would've had a cutaway of the audience [gasping]," Anderson said. "But instead, I was in Africa on assignment for '60 Minutes.' I sent an email to a friend of mine who put it on a website."

Cooper came out of the closet publicly as a gay man on July 2, following years of speculation and said that he "couldn't be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud."

The popular 45-year-old veteran news reporter, who hosts the CNN show "Anderson Cooper 360" and his own syndicated talk series, "Anderson Live," revealed the news in a letter to The Daily Beast writer Andrew Sullivan, who is openly gay. It was posted on the outlet's website.

"I gave no interviews about it," he continued. "I never talked about it. I wasn't even on the air for days afterward. So suddenly Star Jones - who, as memory serves, in terms of boosting ratings I seem to recall her hawking her wedding like every single day to get free products when she was on 'The View.' And I seem to recall her lying about her gastric bypass surgery and making everybody else lie about it as well. So for her to suddenly emerge out of the shadows and suddenly attack me for this, I couldn't believe it. And my mom [Gloria Vanderbilt] was like, 'Who is Star Jones?'"

Cooper's announcement came days after it was revealed that CNN's ratings during its second quarter of 2012 were the lowest earned by the cable network since 1991. Ratings for its primetime lineup, which includes "Anderson Cooper 360," dropped 41 percent over the past year to some 129,000 viewers among the coveted demographic of people aged 25 to 54, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Star Jones responded to Cooper's criticism on Twitter, but her reaction was far from apologetic.

"I was wrong. @andersoncooper didn't come out as a ratings ploy. He used ME talking about him coming out @todayshow as a ratings ploy. #mybad," Jones Tweeted on October 4.

Nicole Kidman reportedly refused to say the N-word for 'The Paperboy' role

Nicole Kidman was willing to do a lot of things in her role as Charlotte Bless in "The Paperboy," but there was one word the actress refused to use.

The film's director, Lee Daniels, reportedly told journalists at a press conference for the movie at the New York Film Festival, that he wanted the actress to say the N-word at a black co-star in a scene for the film, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The director was puzzled as to why the actress would not say the word, to which Kidman said to reporters, "I didn't feel like it was right for the character."

She later added, according to the newspaper, "I have a son who's African American and I just didn't feel it was right. It wasn't right."

Kidman was referring to her only son, 17-year-old Connor Cruise, who she adopted with ex-husband Tom Cruise. The former couple also has an adopted daughter, 19-year-old Isabella Jane. The 45-year-old actress also has two daughters from her marriage to Country singer Keith Urban, 4-year-old Sunday Rose Kidman Urban and 1-year-old Faith Margaret Kidman Urban.

Daniels reportedly told the press that he was frustrated by Kidman's refusal at first but after explaining his feelings to a producer, the producer pointed out that the director had already put her in what the newspaper describes as a "compromising sexual position" and filmed a scene where Kidman urinates on co-star Zac Efron after his character gets stung by a school of jellyfish.

Daniels, who was nominated for an Academy Award for directing "Precious," also revealed during the press conference that he asked Kidman to do her own makeup for the duration of the film.

"The Paperboy" is about a reporter named Ward Jansen, played Matthew McConaughey, who returns to his hometown in Florida to investigate the events surrounding a murder in hopes of exonerating Hillary Van Wetter, played by John Cusack, who is death row.

Kidman plays Wetter's seductive lover Charlotte. Efron also stars in the film as Ward's younger brother Jack, who helps him investigate the case and falls for Charlotte. The movie is based on a true story and is set to hit theaters on October 5.

The actress appeared at the premiere in New York City wearing a red L'Wren Scott dress. Check out the trailer for the film below.

Giuliana Rancic: motherhood is everything I had hoped for and more

Giuliana Rancic opened up about her new baby and said that motherhood is even better than she expected it would be.

"It's awesome. I knew it was going to be great, especially because we worked so hard at having a baby and we wanted a baby so bad, but it's even better than I expected," Rancic told Parade magazine.

The 37-year-old E! News host and her husband Bill welcomed baby Edward on August 29, with the help of a surrogate.

"I think the biggest surprise is probably enjoying those overnight feedings," she said. "I love them and look forward to them because I get to spend time with the baby... He's really opening his eyes now, and when he opens his eyes and stares at you for ten minutes at a time while you're feeding him, you just realize why there's that mother-son bond and I say to myself: 'How am I ever going to say no to this kid!' He's got me. It's everything I had hoped for and more."

Rancic and her husband struggled to have children for years. Rancic had a miscarriage in 2010 and also attempted two in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments. She was diagnosed with breast cancer during a doctor's appointment to discuss a third. She underwent a double mastectomy in December 2011.

"I remember getting diagnosed last September, and it's fair to say that it was the worst day of my life, yet three weeks ago, I had the best day of my life, seeing my baby boy come into the world," she told the magazine. "That was truly the best day of my life. It just really teaches you so much about how resilient we are, and how strong we are. If you just stay positive, if you can just believe that there is a reason bad things are happening, some good can come out of it and you try to do good with what's happening to you. There will be a light at the end of the tunnel."

Rancic and her husband star in the E! reality series, "Giuliana & Bill," which returned for season five on October 2.

Daryl Hannah arrested while protesting pipeline

AP  RAMIT PLUSHNICK-MASTIHOUSTON -- Actress Daryl Hannah of "Splash" fame was arrested in northeast Texas on Thursday, along with a 78-year-old landowner as the pair protested an oil pipeline designed to bring crude from Canada to the Gulf Coast.

"They've arrested Daryl Hannah and a rural Texas great-grandmother," said Paul Bassis, Hannah's manager.

Hannah and landowner Eleanor Fairchild were standing in front of heavy equipment in an attempt to halt construction of the Keystone XL pipeline on Fairchild's farm in Winnsboro, a town about 100 miles east of Dallas. They were arrested for criminal trespassing and taken to the Wood County Jail, Bassis said. Hannah also faces a charge of resisting arrest, according to jail records.

Hannah has long opposed TransCanada's construction of the $7 billion pipeline, which is designed to transport heavy tar-sands crude oil from Alberta, Canada, to Texas' Gulf Coast refineries.

"It is unfortunate Ms. Hannah and other out-of-state activists have chosen to break the law by illegally trespassing on private property," David Dodson, a spokesman for TransCanada, said in an email. He also said protesters were "putting their own safety and the safety of others at risk."

Bassis said he spoke to the actress Thursday evening and that there was "a strong indication" that both women would be kept overnight at the local jail.

"The streets of Winnsboro will be much safer tonight now that they've gotten that 78-year-old great grandmother off the streets," Bassis said.

Hannah - who has starred in dozens of movies, including "Kill Bill" and "Splash" - also was arrested in August 2011 while protesting the pipeline in Washington. She was one of several hundred prominent scientists and activists arrested that month.

They argue the pipeline would be unsafe because it would be carrying heavy, acidic crude oil that could more easily corrode a metal pipe, which would lead to a spill. They also say refining the oil would further contaminate the air in a region that has long struggled with pollution.

TransCanada says its pipeline would be the safest ever built, and that the crude is no dirtier than oil currently arriving from Venezuela or parts of California.

The issue became politically charged when congressional Republicans gave President Barack Obama 60 days to decide whether TransCanada should be granted the necessary permit for the pipeline to cross an international border before snaking its way 1,700 miles south to the Texas coast.

Obama, saying his administration did not have enough time to study the potential environmental impacts, denied the permit in January.

However, he encouraged TransCanada to reroute the northern portion of the pipeline to avoid an environmentally sensitive area of Nebraska. He also promised to expedite permitting of a southern portion of the pipeline from Cushing, Okla., to the Gulf Coast to relieve a bottleneck at the Cushing refinery.

TransCanada began construction of that portion of the pipeline this summer after receiving the necessary permits. Some Texas landowners, joined by activists from outside the state, have tried through various protests to stop or slow down construction.

Robin Roberts gives health update, says her blood counts are 'GREAT!'

Robin Roberts gave fans an update on her health following a bone marrow transplant she received with stem cells from her sister two weeks ago.

The 51-year-old "Good Morning America" anchor is being treated for myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), a rare blood and bone marrow disorder. Roberts revealed her ailment in June, saying it was caused in part by treatments she had undergone for breast cancer five years ago. Her older sister, Sally-Ann, was her bone marrow donor.

Check out 9 facts about Robin Roberts, her MDS and bone marrow transplant.

Roberts went on medical leave a day early than she had initially planned in late August in order to visit her ailing mother, Lucimarian Tolliver Roberts. Lucimarian died on August 30 at the age of 88 and Robin Roberts made it back just in time to see her mother.

In the recent blog post, Roberts also details her difficulties with chemotherapy and how her co-workers' visit helped lift her spirits.

"Today is what I like to call 'Thankful Thursday, aka Friday Eve,'" Roberts wrote in a post on Thursday, October 4. "I have been in the hospital 25 days now. My bone marrow transplant took place exactly two weeks ago. The only numbers that matter are my blood counts and they are... GREAT! My sister Sally-Ann's stem cells apparently feel right at home in my body -- an answer to so many prayers."

"My doctors and rock star nurses are very pleased with my progress and I could not be more thankful for the excellent care I am receiving," she added. "I have had some extremely painful days and it's still difficult for me to eat because of all the chemo."

Roberts also mentions a visit she had with fellow "Good Morning America" co-workers Josh Elliott and Sam Champion, which can be seen in the photo above, as well as an upcoming visit from a childhood pastor.

"I continue to learn so much on this journey, especially when it comes to true friendship and love. My friends near and far -- like Sam and Josh who came to visit yesterday -- have been lifting my spirits," Roberts wrote. "My childhood pastor (who delivered Momma's eulogy) is coming from down South to see me tomorrow. I am hopeful that I MAY be well enough to continue my recovery at home next week and my sisters plan to come back to NYC for that milestone in my journey. "

Dustin Diamond talks past meetings with Lark Voorhies: 'It wasn't the Lark I knew'

"Saved By the Bell" star Dustin Diamond recently spoke about his latest interactions with former co-star Lark Voorhies and said her behavior caused him to become concerned.

The 38-year-old actress' mother reportedly revealed that Lark Voorhies had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and People magazine described a series of interviews in which the actress stared into space and mumbled to herself.

Diamond told People magazine, that he began noticing something was off when he and Voorhies recorded commentary for a "Saved By the Bell" box set in 2003.

Diamond starred on the series as geeky Samuel "Screech" Powers who was hopelessly in love with rich girl Lisa Turtle, played by Voorhies. Both actors originated their "Saved By The Bell" characters on the television series "Good Morning, Miss Bliss," which ran from 1988 to 1989. The show later went on to be revamped and became "Saved by the Bell," which ran from 1989 to 1993.

"I was always used to playing off of her and looking into her eyes," Diamond told the magazine about Voorhies. "When I saw her at the commentary, it wasn't the Lark I knew."

Voorhies and her former "Saved by the Bell" co-stars, with the exception of Diamond who reportedly did not take part in the shoot, reunited for a People magazine spread in 2009. She and Diamond crossed paths again while filming an indie movie called "Little Creeps."

"Part of me is putting it out of my mind and not thinking about it, but the other part is that of concern," Diamond said. "Man, I hope she's all right."

Voorhies reportedly denied that she is sick and called her mother "over-loving." Voorhies and her mother live together in Pasadena, California.

Jennifer Livingston went on air at her station to discuss her weight after the negative comments were posted in a letter by a viewer. CLICK HERE to watch her response.

Hundreds of people have written to support her view that she's "more than just a number on a scale" and would not be bullied.

Now, the man who wrote the letter says he wants her to influence the health and psychological well being of young viewers by shedding pounds.

Kenneth Krause stood by his statements and was apparently unmoved by the response. He declined an invitation to appear on the television station, and then issued the following statement.

"Given this country's present epidemic of obesity and the many truly horrible diseases related thereto, and considering Jennifer Livingston's fortuitous position in the community, I hope she'll finally take advantage of a rare and golden opportunity to influence the health and psychological well-being of Coulee region children by transforming herself for all of her viewers to see over the next year," he wrote. "And to that end, I would be absolutely pleased to offer her any advice or support she would be willing to accept."

Chris Brown says he and model Karrueche Tran have broken up and cites his "friendship" with ex-girlfriend Rihanna as part of the reason.

The news comes after several outlets said that the pop star and Rihanna, whom he had famously assaulted after a pre-Grammys party in 2009, were recently seen together at a Jay-Z concert and a New York City night club. E! News said the two were "caught making out" inside. Brown and Rihanna have not commented about the reports.

"I have decided to be single to focus on my career," Brown tells OTRC.com in a statement on Wednesday, October 4. "I love Karrueche very much but I don't want to see her hurt over my friendship with Rihanna. I'd rather be single allowing us to both be happy in our lives."

(Check out which other celebrity couples called it quits in 2012.)

Tran and Brown had been dating since at least February. On Wednesday evening, she Tweeted: "Bye baby." She did not elaborate.

Rumors of a possible reconciliation between Brown and Rihanna have been floating around for months, fuelled in part by their collaboration on two tracks in February and a public kiss at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 6.

Rihanna talked to Oprah Winfrey about Brown on an episode of "Oprah's Next Chapter" that aired on the talk show host's OWN cable channel in August. The pop star said she "still loves" Brown and that she thinks he was the love of her life. She said that the two were not together romantically but have been working mending their friendship and are "very, very close friends." She also said they spent time together in St. Tropez.

Oprah asked Rihanna if she was seeing Brown on a romantic level. The singer replied: "No. He's in a relationship of his own. I'm single but we have maintained a very close friendship ever since the restraining order has been dropped."

Following the assault arrest, Brown pleaded guilty to a felony charge was sentenced to five years of probation and six months of community service and was ordered by the courts to receive domestic violence courses for a year.

In September, it was revealed during a progress hearing that he had tested positive for marijuana during a recent random drug test. It is unclear if it will affect his probation. He is due back in court in November.

FTC to fine Warner unit $1M over kids privacy

AP  Eyewitness NewsNEW YORK -- The Federal Trade Commission is proposing to fine a unit of Warner Music Group Corp. $1 million for violating a child privacy law in the operation of fan websites for artists including Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato and Rihanna.

Commissioner Edith Ramirez revealed the proposed settlement in a speech in New York on Wednesday at the annual meeting of the Children's Advertising Review Unit, a self-regulatory group for the advertising industry. A judge would need to confirm the settlement.

Ramirez said that website operator Artist Arena collected personal details like names, email addresses, street addresses and cellphone numbers of more than 100,000 children aged 12 or younger on sites such as BieberFever.com.

"BieberFever.com got off to a bad start ... and things got worse from there," Ramirez said in prepared remarks.

At first, the site required visitors to input birthdates and other personal information, and required visitors under 13 to submit a parent's email address for confirmation, according to a complaint filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in New York, where Warner Music Group is based.

But after a month of operation, it let underage visitors register and pay for membership without sending an email to the child's parents, the complaint said.

The actions violated the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, it said.

An FTC spokeswoman declined to comment on the case. Messages seeking comment with Artist Arena and Warner Music were not immediately returned.

Rush, Donna Summer, Public Enemy among 15 Rock Hall of Fame nominees

Canadian progressive rock trio Rush has finally been nominated for possible induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame after years of being snubbed.

The organization released its annual list of nominees on Thursday and will announce the winners in several weeks. Aside from Rush, the nominees for the 2013 ceremony include Public Enemy - the group that made Flavor Flav famous, iconic metal group Deep Purple - known best for the song "Smoke on the Water," rock bands Heart and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and "Queen of Disco" Donna Summer.

All three were also nominated last year. Summer also received a nod in 2010. The singer died in May. The other nominees this year are Albert King, N.W.A, Procol Harum, Randy Newman, Kraftwerk, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, The Meters, The Marvelettes and Chic.

Rush, headed by singer Geddy Lee, formed in the late 1960s and has released commercial hits such as "Tom Sawyer," "The Spirit of the Radio," "Limelight," "New World Man" and "Closer to the Heart." Rush is known not only for its unique sound but for its eclectic stage props - working appliances such as dryers, fridges and even rotisserie chicken ovens have been placed on stage instead of bass amps.

"We are honored to be among the nominees for this year's Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame," Lee and fellow band members Alex Lifeson and Neil Pearl said in a statement posted on Rush's website. "We are especially thrilled for the many, many dedicated RUSH fans to whom this nomination is so very important."

For years, fans have called on the Rock Hall to induct Rush, a group admired by musicians such as Nine Inch Nails singer Trent Reznor and Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, who Tweeted on Thursday, response to the group's nomination: "AWESOME NEWS!"

"While they have never gotten the critical respect they so richly deserve, Neil Peart has inspired more young drummers to take up the instrument than any other drummer of the past 30 years," the Rock Hall's website states. "No less impressive is Geddy Lee's ability to play keyboards and bass in concert while never missing a note of his lead vocals, and guitarist Alex Lifeson is a virtuoso simply without peer."

The group's music has also carried political messages, promoting individualism. The 1976 concept album "2112" was inspired by Objectivist author Ayn Rand and her novella Anthem, which is also the title of one of a Rush song.

Peart, whose drum set is among the largest seen in concerts, opened up about his current political views in an interview with Rolling Stone in June to promote Rush's new album, "Clockwork Angels." He said: "On that 2112 album, again, I was in my early twenties. I was a kid. Now I call myself a bleeding heart libertarian."

Actors Jason Segel and Paul Rudd famously paid tribute to the band in the Judd Apatow movies "Knocked Up" and "I Love You, Man." The two actors starred in a Funny Or Die video with the band (watch it here). Segel also channelled Peart in a drum sequence on an episode of Apatow's 1999 series "Freaks and Geeks."

Rush earned the group a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in June 2010. Fellow Rock Hall nominee Heart, which is known for songs such as "Alone" and "What About Love" and is headed by Ann Wilson and her sister Nancy Wilson, received the same honor on September 25.

More than 700 artists and groups have been inducted into the Rock Hall since it was established in 1983. According to the organization, music performers become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record and nominees are voted upon by more than 600 artists, historians and members of the industry. Inductees must receive more than 50 percent of the vote.

The Rock Hall announced that this year, for the first time, fans can participate in the induction process and can vote for five nominees until December 3. As of Thursday afternoon, Rush leads with 27 percent of the vote, with Deep Purple following with 16 percent and Heart with 13 percent. (You can vote here)

"The top five artists, as selected by the public, will comprise a 'fans' ballot' that will be tallied along with the other ballots to choose the 2013 inductees," the Rock Hall says.

Rock Hall inductees are typically announced in December and are honored at an induction ceremony the following spring. Earlier this April, groups such as Guns N' Roses<, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Beastie Boys were inducted.

Anchorwoman's emotional response to bully goes viral

AP  CARRIE ANTLFINGERMILWAUKEE -- Jennifer Livingston has always rebuffed personal attacks, so when the Wisconsin television anchorwoman got an email from a viewer criticizing her weight, she thought nothing of it.

But then she thought of her daughters and other children who may not have the same emotional shield.

Livingston took the airways Tuesday to respond to the email during a 4-minute segment on WKBT-TV in La Crosse, calling the writer a bully. She urged young viewers not to allow such people to define their self-worth.

CLICK HERE to watch her response.

She didn't identify the man, who wrote that he was surprised to see her physical condition hadn't improved for years. He told her that he hopes she doesn't consider herself a suitable example for young people, especially girls.

The man who wrote the email, Kenneth Krause, told The Associated Press in an interview that his emails had nothing to do with bullying.

Livingston, who has worked in broadcast journalism since 1997, said at least 1,000 people have posted supportive messages on her Facebook page and even more sent her emails. She said many wrote that they wished someone had stood up for them, including some who said they were bullied years ago "and it still haunts them today."

"It's not what this one particular man said to me," the 37-year-old said in a phone interview from the station. "It's the reaction that what I am saying back to him and bullies everywhere is impacting me. I am just shocked right now that the words of one journalist in small La Crosse, Wis., can make such a loud roar."

Livingston said she's been asked to appear on national morning shows Wednesday.

In his initial email, Krause wrote that "obesity is one of the worst choices a person can make," then urged Livingston to "reconsider your responsibility to present and promote a healthy lifestyle."

They exchanged a few emails, but Livingston said he wouldn't back down from his opinion that she was a bad role model. Krause, who wouldn't reveal his profession or age to the AP, said he no longer had the emails.

In her television response, Livingston acknowledged she was overweight but said the man's words were cruel. Livingston said she could brush off such comments but worried about children who didn't know how to do the same.

"To all of the children out there who feel lost, who are struggling with your weight, with the color of your skin, your sexual preference, your disability, even the acne on your face, listen to me right now: Do not let your self-worth be defined by bullies.

"Learn from my experience - that the cruel words of one are nothing compared to the shouts of many," she said on the air.

Her husband, who also is an anchor at the station, originally posted the email Friday on Facebook. Livingston didn't decide to address it on air until after a few local radio stations did segments on it and about bullying - and she thought about how her three young daughters would eventually face bullies.

"For me, it's not about him," she said. "It's about the culture of emails like his that not only come to us as journalists but to people all over the place and especially to our kids."

Nicole Kidman talks Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise divorce and depression

Nicole Kidman is denying a report that said she spoke to Katie Holmes about the actress' divorce from Tom Cruise and has also opened up about the depression she felt after her own breakup with the actor, her first husband and the father of her eldest children.

Holmes, 33, filed for divorce from Cruise, father of their 6-year-old daughter Suri, on June 28 and the two later reached a settlement. About two weeks after the filing, Us Weekly magazine quoted a "confidante" as saying that Holmes talked to Kidman over the phone about the separation.

"I never spoke to her," Kidman, 45, told the Australian magazine WHO in an interview published in its October 2012 20th Anniversary Collector's Issue. "I wish all of them well, but I was not involved in any of that."

The actress and Cruise, 50, divorced in 2001 after 10 years of marriage and he won custody of their adopted son and daughter, Connor, 17, and Isabella, 19. Kidman remarried in 2006. She and her husband, country music singer and new "American Idol" judge Keith Urban, 44, are parents to two daughters - Sunday, 4, and Faith, 1.

"I married [Tom] really fast and really young, but I don't regret that because it got me Bella and Connor, and I did have a fantastic marriage for a long period," Kidman told WHO. "Then when it didn't work out, I had to really dig deep and find my way through depression, but I have no regrets about all of it. It was all a part of growing up."

The actress added: "I never, ever take Keith or our love for granted and I always keep in my mind that my dream is to grow very old with him."

Kidman has occasionally talked about her divorce from Cruise and how it made her feel.

The Associated Press reported in 2002 that Kidman worked on the film "The Hours" while battling depression following the split. She told The Chicago Sun-Times at the time: "I just didn't want to work. I was like, 'I'm going to pull out. I can't. ... I just don't. ... I can't cope with anything and I don't want to do it."

Kidman won her first Oscar for portraying famous novelist Virginia Woolf, who also battled depression, in the 2003 film.

In December 2003, Kidman talked about her life post-divorce with the Australian TV network Nine.

"I sort of thought at the time that I was going to curl up in a ball and just never get out of bed," Kidman said, according toThe Sydney Morning Herald. "But I have two kids and I had to get out of bed."

Last year, Kidman told the UK edition of Marie Claire magazine that following the breakdown of her marriage to Cruise: "I was really damaged and not sure whether that was ever going to happen again to me. 'I certainly never thought I'd have a baby at 41. But we never know what's around the corner."

How To Entertain A Thought

New Zealand revokes Mike Tyson's visa

AP  Eyewitness NewsNEW ZEALAND -- New Zealand cancelled a visa for Mike Tyson because of his rape conviction, days after Prime Minister John Key spoke out against the visit by the former heavyweight champion.

Associate Immigration Minister Kate Wilkinson said on Wednesday she was also influenced by a charity that would have benefited from his appearance wanting nothing to do with Tyson.

Tyson said he had been looking forward to meeting New Zealand's indigenous Maori, the inspiration for his notorious facial tattoo. But his whole Down Under speaking tour, scheduled for next month, was threatening to fall apart: Australian immigration authorities said they've yet to decide whether to let him in.

Tyson's 1992 rape conviction would normally prevent his entry in New Zealand and could be grounds for denial in Australia as well.

Tyson was to speak at a November event in Auckland, the "Day of the Champions," which is being promoted by Sydney agency Markson Sparks. On Wednesday the agency continued to promote tickets for appearances in New Zealand and five major Australian cities.

Wilkinson said in a statement her approval was "a finely balanced call," but then the Life Education Trust charity withdrew its support on Tuesday.

The charity's chief executive, John O'Connell, however, said it long ago decided not to accept any money from the event due to its concerns over Tyson's character. O'Connell said a volunteer trustee mistakenly sent a letter to immigration authorities supporting Tyson's plans.

Promoter Max Markson said he's continuing to sell tickets - from 69 to 300 Australian dollars ($70 and $310) - and will give refunds if Tyson cannot appear. He said he had been "hoping it might be a smoother run," but remained confident Australia would grant Tyson a visa and that New Zealand would reverse its decision when he found another suitable charity.

"He'll only be in the country for 20 hours, I don't think he's a danger to anybody, and thousands of people want to see him," Markson said.

Would-be visitors to Australia normally must pass a character test. Those who have a "substantial criminal record" - including people who, like Tyson, have been sentenced to more than a year in prison - fail the test. But the department can use its discretion to grant such people visas.

Tyson was sentenced to six years in prison for the 1991 rape of an 18-year-old woman in an Indianapolis hotel room. He served three years before being released on parole.

A spokesman for Australia's Department of Immigration and Citizenship said, "I can tell you that a decision is still pending" on Tyson's application.

Speaking to the APNZ news agency this week from Las Vegas before his New Zealand visa was cancelled, Tyson said his tattoo was inspired by those worn by Maori. In pre-European times, many Maori wore elaborate facial tattoos as a sign of their status. These days, some Maori who identify strongly with their traditional culture get similar tattoos.

Tyson told the agency that, aside from their tattoos, he knew little about Maori, "so I'm looking forward to come down there and see them."

Nikki Reed - 6 facts: Actress talks 'Twilight' farewell, fans and music (Exclusive)

Nikki Reed talks final chapter of 'Twilight'Nikki Reed talks 'shower-pooling,' the environmentNikki Reed talks jewelry line, future movies and singing

While "Twilight" actress Nikki Reed's days as a vampire are coming to an end, she has plenty on her plate with her own jewelry line, a singing career and her new gig as an AXE ambassador.

Reed, 24, plays vampire Rosalie Hale in the hit "Twilight" movies, alongside stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. The last installment, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2," is slated to be released on November 16.

Check out 6 facts about Reed, her "Twilight" journey, her husband and her new projects, as told to OTRC.com host Rachel Smith.

1. Nikki Reed is very sad that "Twilight" is coming to an end - but, she won't miss everything about the vampire flick.

"I'm not going to miss the wig - there's a lot of things I'm going to miss about 'Twilight' - the wig and shooting in the rain, and you know, in freezing cold, muddy ... the contacts. But everything else I'm going to miss - a lot actually," Reed told OTRC.com.

"'The end' - or whatever this thing is, the end of this, has been on our minds for a while," Reed told OTRC.com. "Because we knew what we were getting into. We knew it wasn't forever. But, I guess I didn't expect to be this sad. I feel, especially after Comic-Con, you know being on the last panel, and being up there with all of my cast, you know, that's sad."

2. She has set a personal "Twilight" goal that fans are going to love.

Reed and the rest of the film's actors are gearing up for what is expected to be a massive global press tour to promote "Breaking Dawn - Part 2." Premieres of the past "Twilight" films have drawn tens of thousands of fans. Scores have camped outside the venues days beforehand.

"I'm going all over the place, paired with different people, flying all around the world. I've always felt really connected to the fans but I feel like people are going to have to drag me off the carpet this year because if I don't get to every single person ... then I have failed myself," Reed said.

"It's so unbelievable and I'm never, I can't, I'm so grateful for this and I know that this sort of thing is not going to happen again in my life and I just want to sit there and just sort of soak it all in and say 'Thank you' in the only way I can with them, which is to give back to them what they've given to us."

3. Reed is the godmother of Jackson Rathbone's baby.

In the "Twilight" films, Rathbone plays Jasper Hale, the adoptive brother of Reed's character. The actor and his girlfriend, Sheila Hafsadi, welcomed their first child, a boy named Monroe, in July.

"That little baby," Reed told OTRC.com. "Oh my God, I can't even. Oh my goodness ... I was like, holding his hand yesterday and I'm taking like 40 photographs of his like, chubby little hand. I'm obsessed with every detail - I can't even stand it."

4. Expect more music from Reed - she and husband Paul McDonald, an "American Idol" alum, are releasing an EP.

"I have my EP with my husband, we're singing together, so we're doing an EP with duets and stuff that we've written together," Reed told OTRC.com.

In November 2011, the pair released their first duet, "Now That I Found You."

The pair recently released a new duet, "All I've Ever Needed." It is featured on the soundtrack of "Breaking Dawn - Part 2," whose track list was released on October 4.

5. She considers herself environmentally friendly, and is an ambassador for AXE's showerpooling campaign.

"I try, I do make an effort," Reed told OTRC.com. "I like to be, I'd like to consider myself, you know, environmentally conscious, and I was really excited to get involved with AXE on their showerpooling campaign, because I just feel like, finding, people want to be able to feel like they're making a difference, but they want it to be simple and they want it to feel easy and effortless and this is a great way to sort of be involved and conserve water."

"I mean we're here today installing low-flow showerheads but there are other things you can do, you know, you can shower with another person, so that's the whole idea behind showerpooling," she added.

6. Reed is coming out with her own jewelry line, Mattlin Era.

"It launches in a few weeks - this is actually one of my pieces [looks at her own bracelet]."

This isn't the actress' first time dabbling in fashion. Reed designed a pair of high-heeled shoes for Stuart Weitzman for charity in September.

Reporting by Rachel Smith, co-host of KABC Television's entertainment show "On The Red Carpet" (check for local TV listings).

Kenny Rogers memoir won't discuss plastic surgery regrets

Kenny Rogers said that his new memoir, "Luck or Something Like It," doesn't discuss his plastic surgery regrets, per his publisher's request.

The 74-year-old country singer told Fox News that there was originally a chapter in the book about his cosmetic surgery, but it was removed.

"I regret the results of the eye job but quite honestly I don't know what I'd look like if I hadn't done it and it may have been way worse. I actually had written a whole segment on it but the publishers said, 'Let's not do that, that's all people will talk about,'" Rogers told Fox News. "This book is about my journey and my musical connections. It was a phase I went through. I improved myself. I didn't like the way he did my eyes but I see all these other guys who have had it done and theirs are worse than mine. I'm not going to complain anymore."

The memoir does talk about Rogers' childhood, five marriages, sex scandal and friendships with fellow musicians Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Dottie West and Ray Charles.

Rogers grew up in the projects in Houston and the first time he had sex at age 19, his girlfriend Janice Gordon got pregnant, so the pair wed, but divorced two years later.

He married his current wife, Wanda Miller, in 1997. Rogers said that the 28-year age gap worried Wanda's parents, but he is now best friends with the couple, who are two yours younger than him.

"She is truly my soul mate. She knows me better than anyone has ever known me before," Rogers told Fox of Miller. "We've been together for 20 years. We have identical twin boys who are eight years old. I have such great respect for her as a mother. She is the most phenomenal mother I have ever seen. The boys are so lucky to have her and so am I."

Rogers said that he became a musician because his mother once told him, "If you love what you do, then you'll never work a day in your life."

Rogers has sold more than 120 million records worldwide and won Grammys for performances of his songs "The Gambler," "Lucille" and "Make No Mistake, She's Mine." "Luck or Something Like It" was released on October 2.
