Red Hot Chili Peppers postpone U.S. tour due to Anthony Kiedis' foot injuries - see list of new dates

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are postponing the start of their upcoming U.S. tour due to "multiple foot injuries sustained by lead singer Anthony Kiedis."

The concert series was supposed to begin on January 20 in Sunrise, Florida, but will now start in the city of Tampa at the end of March. Tickets for the postponed dates are being honored at the rescheduled dates.

"Red Hot Chili Peppers regret to announce that they must postpone the start of their upcoming U.S. tour due to multiple foot injuries sustained by lead singer Anthony Kiedis," the rock group said in a statement on Wednesday, January 11. "Kiedis recently underwent surgery to remove a crushed sesamoid bone and correct a detached flexor tendon in his foot and is expected to make a full recovery."

The cause of the singer's injuries were not detailed. Drummer Chad Smith said on his Twitter page that Kiedis "had surgery mon.on his foot so he's out for 8 weeks," adding: "Our sincere apologies for the inconvience."

The tour marks the first North American concert series for the Red Hot Chili Peppers in four years. The group is promoting its 10th studio album, "I'm With You," which was released in August 2011.

The record is the Grammy-winning band's first album in 15 years without long-time member and guitarist John Frusciante. He left the group in 1992, a year after the release of the album "Blood Sugar Sex Magik," which contains the hit songs "Give It Away" and "Suck My Kiss."

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are touring for the first time with new member Josh Klinghoffer, who is taking Frusciante's place.
