Pia Toscano debuts single 'This Time' - What do you think?

otrc logo

Former "American Idol" contestant Pia Toscano's debut single hit the airwaves for the first time on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS FM radio show on Monday. The song, titled "This Time," can be heard below. The single will be available for download later this week, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The 22-year-old New York native signed a joint contract with Interscope Records, whose chairman, Jimmy Iovine, helped coach the contestants on the FOX singing contest, and with 19 Recordings, whose parent company co-produces "American Idol." Toscano finished ninth place on the show and her elimination from the show marked one of last season's biggest shockers.

"I am thrilled to be joining the Interscope and 19 Recordings family," Toscano said in an Interscope Records statement obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com. "Jimmy Iovine was an amazing mentor during my time on 'Idol' and I'm looking forward to working with him and everyone at Interscope Records and 19 Recordings. This is a dream come true."

Toscano's single, "This Time," was written and co-produced by Esther Dean, who has penning hits for pop singers Katy Perry and Christina Aguilera, hip hop star Nicki Minaj and R&B artists Mary J. Blige and Rihanna. Toscano's song is dubbed as an "acoustic guitar and beat-driven track."

Toscano is also working on her debut album, which is set for release later this year, Interscope Records' statement said.

"American Idol" season 10 winner Scotty McCreery and runner-up Lauren Alaina also signed recording contracts with the firm after the show's finale in May.

Justin Timberlake receives YouTube invitation to attend the Marine Corps Ball with female Marine

Justin Timberlake was mistaken when he told Mila Kunis that the Marine Corps didn't want him because the actor has now received his own invite to the Marine Corps Ball in November, for which his "Friends with Benefits" co-star has already accepted an invitation.

Timberlake and Kunis were promoting their upcoming movie in a Fox News interview when the actor encouraged Kunis to accept a YouTube invitation from Marine Sgt. Scott Moore to attend the Ball with him.

"Have you seen this? Have you heard about this? You need to do it for your country," Timberlake told Kunis during their Fox News interview.

When Kunis asked him if he was going to come, the actor said, "They don't want me! They want you."

Now a Virginia-based female Marine, Kelsey De Santis has asked Timberlake to accompany her to the Marine Corps Ball on November 12 in Washington D.C. There is no word yet on whether Timberlake will accept the offer, but as De Santis said in her video, "If you can't go, all I can say is cry me a river."

Timberlake and Kunis will be seen in "Friends With Benefits" when the film hits theaters on July 22. Check out the trailer for the film and see Kelsey De Santis' invite and the actors' FOX interview below.

Rebecca Black to release new single, 'My Moment' on Monday

Rebecca Black, who rose to internet stardom when her music video "Friday" went viral on YouTube, plans to release a new single entitled "The Moment" next week.

"The Moment" will debut on Black's YouTube channel on Monday, July 18 at 8 p.m. ET and will be available for download on iTunes the following day, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The new track was written by Brandon "Blue" Hamilton, who has previously collaborated with Justin Bieber and it was produced by Charlton Pettus, who has worked with Hilary Duff and Tears for Fears.

The video will reportedly include footage of Black attending red carpet events and receiving an award at her junior high school while telling the story of Black's "sudden rise to fame," according to a statement which also said, "It's a fairy tale story, but it happened in real life."

"Friday" had over 167 million views on YouTube when it was removed on June 16, "due to a copyright claim" by Black, according to the site.

The 14-year-old recently appeared in Katy Perry's music video, "Last Friday Night."

"Friday" has been dubbed "the worst music video/song" ever since it was released in February and Black has been mocked online and even received death threats over the song, which led to a police investigation.

The song and corresponding video were produced by the independent Los Angeles-based company Ark Music Factory. People magazine reports that for a fee, the company will produce a pop song and video for teenage girls who "want to get discovered."

Black is currently working on her five-track EP, which will be self-released in August.

Judge dismisses charges against Foxy Brown

AP  Entertainment NewsNEW YORK -- A judge on Tuesday dropped charges that rapper Foxy Brown violated a court order by mooning her neighbor after the woman told prosecutors she would not testify at the trial.

Assistant District Attorney Robert Isdith said he had tried to meet with the neighbor, Irene Raymond, in the weeks before the trial and didn't get anywhere. When he finally got in touch with her, she said she didn't want to pursue the case, he said.

"While the district attorney's office has no doubt the defendant committed this crime, we have no other choice but to dismiss this case," Isdith said.

Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, pleaded not guilty to criminal contempt and her trial was slated to begin Tuesday, following a dressing-down at her last court hearing by State Supreme Court Justice John Walsh when she appeared hours late.

The 31-year-old hip hop star was punctual this time, wearing a short silver silk dress and towering spike heels, and smiled and hugged he attorneys as the courtroom erupted when Walsh dismissed the case.

"I was falsely arrested twice, slandered and defamed," she said outside court, as she gave a thumbs-up and smiled for cameras.

She described Raymond as jealous, and someone with a "borderline obsession," "someone who wants to be you or have your life ...

that I worked really hard for," she said.

The Brooklyn-based rapper was a teenager when she broke onto the rap scene as a protege of Jay-Z, but her career has foundered in recent years.

Prosecutors said Brown violated the order in July 2010 by screaming at Raymond before bending over, baring her buttocks and showing her underwear while shouting an obscenity.

Had the case gone to trial, her attorney Salvatore Strazzullo said her defense would have been not only did she not moon Raymond, but she wasn't even wearing underwear at the time, so the neighbor was not telling the truth.

Brown was issued the order of protection after pleading guilty in 2008 to menacing Raymond with her cellphone. The two had been in a fight over Brown blasting her car stereo outside their Brooklyn building in the leafy Prospect Heights neighborhood. The restraining order is in effect until 2013, her attorney said.

Strazzullo said they would be filing a civil suit in Brooklyn alleging malicious prosecution.

Brown became one of rap's more popular stars in the 1990s, but in recent years she has stayed in the headlines mainly for her legal problems and hot temper. She also has said she suffered from hearing problems.

Her debut CD, "Ill Na Na," was released in 1996. She released her platinum-selling sophomore album, "Chyna Doll," in 1999. Her third album, "Broken Silence," - released in 2001 - reached gold status.

She rapped in the hip-hop group The Firm, which also featured Nas.

Brown said outside court that she's headed directly to the recording studio now that she's free of the case, and said she's not planning to return to criminal court any time soon.

Cop: 'Melrose' actress giggled after fatal crash

AP  MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- A police officer says an actress who had appeared in the "Melrose Place" television series was giggling and laughing after a motor vehicle crash that killed a New Jersey woman.

The officer says Amy Locane-Bovenizer said police and emergency personnel were "being overly dramatic."

Montgomery Police Officer William Wilkes testified Monday during a hearing to determine whether statements the actress made to police after the June 2010 crash will be admissible at her trial.

Locane-Bovenizer is charged with aggravated manslaughter stemming from the death of 60-year-old Helene Seeman.

Prosecutors allege the 39-year-old actress, who lives in Hopewell, was drunk and speeding when her SUV struck a vehicle driven by Seeman's husband.

The court hearing will continue Tuesday with cross-examination.

Halle Berry's alleged stalker Richard Anthony Franco pleads not guilty

Halle Berry's alleged stalker Richard Anthony Franco pleaded not guilty to felony stalking on Wednesday, OnTheRedCarpet.com has learned.

Franco, 27, is currently being held on $150,000 bail. He is on probation after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor battery charge in June and faces up to three years in state prison if convicted. A preliminary hearing on the stalking case was set for July 27.

Berry was granted a temporary restraining order against Franco on Monday. A hearing will be held to decide on whether the actress' restraining order should become permanent. The hearing is scheduled for August 1. Permanent restraining orders run for three years.

Franco has been ordered to stay 100 yards away from Berry's home, job or workplaces, vehicle, and her daughter Nahla's school or child care facility. He is also barred from harassing, attacking, threatening and contacting the star directly or by phone or email.

In legal documents obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com, Berry cited three incidents where Franco harassed her at her home. The actress described the second incident on July 10 where Franco had gotten into her home.

Berry described in her filing as being inside her garage, which had been converted into a salon, for ten minutes. "I decided to open up two large doors, which face and [sic] interior yard, in order to get some fresh air in," Berry said. "As I did so, I walked back toward my kitchen door in the yard to grab a Diet Coke from my refrigerator. As I opened my glass kitchen door and closed it behind me, all of a sudden I sensed someone behind me."

She added that she "turned to see the same intruder [Franco] standing less than a foot behind me, starring at me through my glass kitchen door."

Berry said she then called the police but Franco had disappeared before they arrived. Later on Sunday, July 10, Berry said arrangements were made to "have fully armed security officers at my residence and on the grounds 24 hours a day."

Officials said Franco was identified as the same person who showed up to Berry's backyard on Saturday and Sunday.

"This person has jeopardized not only my own personal safety, but also the safety and well-being of my family," Berry said in the final lines of her filing. "This person has invaded and trampled upon the most fundamental sense of security I have and I am extremely frightened of him and what he might do to me and those I love."

TV actress plans plea in NYC bar run-in

AP  By JENNIFER PELTZNEW YORK -- Actress Paz de la Huerta is set to admit she threatened to hit a former reality TV figure in a trendy hotel bar, a person familiar with the case said Wednesday.

The "Boardwalk Empire" actress will plead guilty Thursday to harassment in her March encounter with Samantha Swetra, who appeared on the MTV reality series "The City," the person said.

Harassment is a violation, not a crime.

De la Huerta's punishment will entail a fine and a day of community service, said the person, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity to discuss the plans in advance of Thursday's court date.

De la Huerta's lawyer, Jamel Oeser-Sweat, says he's working with prosecutors toward a plea deal and expects some movement on the case Thursday. Prosecutors declined to comment.

De la Huerta, 26, was charged with assault and other offenses after authorities said she punched Swetra in the face, gave her a bloody nose and hurled a glass that cut Swetra's leg at the swanky Standard Hotel. De la Huerta also lashed out at Swetra with words, telling police she herself was "a real actress" and Swetra "a publicity-seeker, a fake actress," according to a court complaint.

She'll admit only to saying she'd hit Swetra, according to the person familiar with the case, who said de la Huerta may also get assessed for potential alcohol counseling.

Swetra has called the actress' behavior "atrocious and utterly intolerable" in a lawsuit over the incident; the suit seeks unspecified damages. De la Huerta, in court papers, has called the claims false.

De la Huerta plays Lucy Danziger, the fiery girlfriend of politician Enoch "Nucky" Thompson (played by Steve Buscemi) on "Boardwalk Empire." The show's second season is due to air this fall. De la Huerta also has appeared in films including "The Cider House Rules," "A Walk to Remember" and "The Limits of Control."

Swetra, a fashion buyer, appeared in several episodes of "The City." The show followed Whitney Port, a star of MTV's Los Angeles-based reality hit "The Hills," as she moved to New York to work for designer Diane von Furstenberg.

The movie is reportedly a Western and, according to Deadline.com, will begin shooting in September.

In May, Schwarzenegger asked his talent agency, Creative Artists Agency, to put his pending entertainment projects on hold while he focuses on his personal life.

Schwarzenegger and wife Maria Shriver announced their separation after 25 years of marriage on May 9. On May 17, it was revealed that he had fathered a secret child more than 10 years ago. On Wednesday, Mildred Patricia Baena, the family's former housekeeper, was identified by news outlets as the woman with whom Arnold Schwarzenegger fathered a son out of wedlock some 14 years ago.

Schwarzenegger has confirmed his infidelity and said in a statement he had apologized to his family. The woman with whom he fathered a son has not commented on the matter.

Shriver, 55, moved out of the couple's mansion near Los Angeles earlier this year, after Schwarzenegger told her he had had an affair with a household staff member who had worked for their family for some 20 years. He did not identify Baena by name. She retired in January.

On July 1, it was reported that Shriver had filed for divorce from Arnold Schwarzenegger. She reportedly signed the divorce papers on June 18 and filed them at a Los Angeles court on Friday, July 1, according to court documents obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com.

Shriver cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split and is seeking joint legal and physical custody of her and the 63-year-old actor's sons Patrick, 17, and Christopher, 13. The two also have two adult daughters, Katherine, 21 and Christina, 19.

Creator of 'Brady Bunch,' 'Gilligan's Island' dies

Sherwood Schwartz The man who created "Gilligan's Island" and "The Brady Bunch" has died. Great niece Robin Randall says Sherwood Schwartz died at 4 a.m. Tuesday. He was 94.

AP  By DENISE PETSKILOS ANGELES -- Sherwood Schwartz, writer-creator of two of the best-remembered TV series of the 1960s and 1970s, "Gilligan's Island" and "The Brady Bunch," has died at age 94.

Great niece Robin Randall said Schwartz died at 4 a.m. Tuesday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he was being treated for an intestinal infection and underwent several surgeries. His wife, Mildred, and children had been at his side.

Sherwood Schwartz and his brother, Al, started as a writing team in TV's famed 1950s "golden age," said Douglas Schwartz, the late Al Schwartz's son.

"They helped shape television in its early days," Douglas Schwartz said. "Sherwood is an American classic, creating `Brady Bunch' and `Gilligan's Island,' iconic shows that are still popular today. He continued to produce all the way up into his 90s."

Sherwood Schwartz was working on a big-screen version of "Gilligan's Island," his nephew said. Douglas Schwartz, who created the hit series "Baywatch," called his uncle a longtime mentor and caring "second father" who helped guide him successfully through show business.

Success was the hallmark of Sherwood Schwartz's own career.

Neither "Gilligan" nor "Brady" pleased the critics, but both managed to reverberate in viewers' heads through the years as few such series did, lingering in the language and inspiring parodies, spinoffs and countless standup comedy jokes.

Schwartz had given up a career in medical science to write jokes for Bob Hope's radio show. He went on to write for other radio and TV shows, including "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet."

He dreamed up "Gilligan's Island" in 1964. It was a Robinson Crusoe story about seven disparate travelers who are marooned on a deserted Pacific Island after their small boat wrecks in a storm. The cast: Alan Hale Jr., as Skipper Jonas Grumby; Bob Denver, as his klutzy assistant Gilligan; Jim Backus and Natalie Schafer, the rich snobs Thurston and Lovey Howell; Tina Louise, the bosomy movie star Ginger Grant; Russell Johnson, egghead science professor Roy Hinkley Jr.; and Dawn Wells, sweet-natured farm girl Mary Ann Summers.

Calling "Gilligan's Island" a "family," Tina Louise tweeted that "Sherwood Schwartz brought laughter and comfort to millions of people." In her Twitter post she added, "He will be in our hearts forever."

TV critics hooted at "Gilligan's Island" as gag-ridden corn. Audiences adored its far-out comedy. Schwartz insisted that the show had social meaning along with the laughs: "I knew that by assembling seven different people and forcing them to live together, the show would have great philosophical implications."

He argued that his sitcoms didn't rely on cheap laughs. "I think writers have become hypnotized by the number of jokes on the page at the expense of character," Schwartz said in a 2000 Associated Press interview.

"When you say the name Gilligan, you know who that is. If a show is good, if it's written well, you should be able to erase the names of the characters saying the lines and still be able to know who said it. If you can't do that, the show will fail."

"Gilligan's Island" lasted on CBS from 1964 to 1967, and it was revived in later seasons with three high-rated TV movies. A children's cartoon, "The New Adventures of Gilligan," appeared on ABC from 1974 to 1977, and in 2004, Schwartz had a hand in producing a TBS reality show called "The Real Gilligan's Island."

The name of the boat on "Gilligan's Island" - the S.S. Minnow - was a bit of TV inside humor: It was named for Newton Minow, who as Federal Communications Commission chief in the early 1960s had become famous for proclaiming television "a vast wasteland."

Minow took the gibe in good humor, saying later that he had a friendly correspondence with Schwartz.

TV writers usually looked upon "The Brady Bunch" as a sugarcoated view of American family life.

The premise: a widow (Florence Henderson) with three daughters marries a widower (Robert Reed) with three sons. (Widowhood was a common plot point in TV series back then, since networks were leery of divorce.) During the 1970s when the nation was rocked by social turmoil, audiences seemed comforted by watching an attractive, well-scrubbed family engaged in trivial pursuits.

Schwartz claimed in 1995 that his creation had social significance because "it dealt with real emotional problems: the difficulty of being the middle girl; a boy being too short when he wants to be taller; going to the prom with zits on your face."

The series lasted from 1969 to 1974, but it had an amazing afterlife. It was followed by three one-season spinoffs: "The Brady Bunch Hour" (1977), "The Brady Brides" (1981) and "The Bradys" (1990). "The Brady Bunch Movie," with Shelley Long and Gary Cole as the parents, was a surprise box-office hit in 1995.

It was followed the next year by a less successful "A Very Brady Sequel."

Sherwood Schwartz was born in 1916 in Passaic, N.J., and grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y. His brother, already working for Hope, got him a job when Sherwood was still in college.

"Bob liked my jokes, used them on his show and got big laughs. Then he asked me to join his writing staff," Schwartz said during an appearance in March 2008, when he got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. "I was faced with a major decision - writing comedy or starving to death while I cured those diseases. I made a quick career change."

Besides his wife, Schwartz's survivors include sons Donald, Lloyd and Ross Schwartz, and daughter Hope Juber.

Jake Gyllenhaal eats a worm during his 'Man Vs. Wild' appearance - See video

Jake Gyllenhaal might regret taking on Bear Grylls' offer to join him on a trek to Iceland.

Though the 30-year-old got to experience the adventure of crawling across a rope stretched between two mountain tops and crossing an ice-cold river shirtless, the actor also had to dine on whatever cuisine the two could find.

A Discovery Channel statement said of the episode back in June, "Jake will have to go where Bear goes, eat whatever Bear eats, and on occasion even take the lead, if he's going to cope with some of the worst conditions known to man."

Gyllenhaal's episode on "Man Vs. Wild" aired on Monday and the actor was seen eating a worm for nutrition. Originally the two had found a dead sheep, which Grylls made Gyllenhaal gut to break up into parts. However, when one of the animal's legs fell off as Gyllenhaal lifted the carcass, Grylls determined the meat was no good.

During the clip, which can be seen below, the actor admits it was the first worm he's ever eaten.

Miranda Kerr named son Flynn after ex-boyfriend

Miranda Kerr revealed in a recent interview that her 6-month-old son Flynn was named after an ex-boyfriend.

The 28-year-old Victoria Secret model and her husband, actor Orlando Bloom welcomed their son Flynn Christopher Blanchard Copeland Bloom on January 6, 2011. Kerr told Australia's The Daily Telegraph that he was partially named after her high school sweetheart, Christopher Middlebrook, who died in a car accident when he was a teenager.

"Chris and I had been dating for two years," Kerr told the Telegraph. "After he died, I wrote him a letter that said I hoped to name my first child after him in some way. I told Orlando, and he was the one who said he'd be happy to do that. Orlando's a good guy."

Kerr also told the paper that Flynn looks just like his Bloom, who gushed about the joys of fatherhood in March.

"He looks exactly like Orlando did when he was a baby," Kerr said. "His character is developing every day. He's content and, even though he's teething, you can see he's calm."

The supermodel returned to work a few months after giving birth and credited yoga, squats and healthy eating to her comeback. She also said that pregnancy gave her a new respect for her body.

"I have a different type of awareness and respect for my body now," Kerr said. "I'm not proud of being back in shape; what makes me proud is that he's healthy, because it means I'm being a good mother."

Kerr confirmed their son's birth in her blog on the KORA Organics website and posted a photo of her breastfeeding the newborn Flynn.

"He weighed 9lb 12 ounces (a very healthy and big baby boy)," the Victoria Secret model wrote. "I gave birth to him naturally - without drugs or painkillers and it was a long, arduous and difficult labor, but Orlando was with me the whole time supporting and guiding me through it. I could not have done it without him."

Bloom, who starred in three "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Lord of the Rings" movies and Kerr dated for at least three years before secretly getting married in July 2010. Kerr announced her pregnancy shortly after the wedding.

Bloom, a British actor, is set to reprise his "Lord of the Rings" role of Legolas in the movie "The Hobbit," director Peter Jackson confirmed on Facebook. Actors Elijah Wood, Iam McKellen, Cate Blanchett and Andy Serkis are all returning to star in the new film.

Jonah Hill shows off slimmer look and says losing weight isn't 'fun' - See photos

Actor Jonah Hill appeared at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Brits to Watch event in Los Angeles on Saturday showing off a slimmer look.

Hill was at the event, which the Royal couple attended as well, and explained to the Los Angeles Times what sparked his change.

The actor, who just finished filming a movie based on the television series "21 Jump Street" with Channing Tatum, said losing weight was "not fun." He added, "I wouldn't say it's the most fun endeavor I've ever took on in my life -- but it's important. And I'm enjoying it."

He continued, "If I eat something unhealthy now, I kind of feel a little weird and my body hurts."

In the photos above, Hill can be seen on the left at the "Milk + Bookies Story Time Celebration" literacy awareness event in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010. On the right, Hill can be seen at the inaugural BAFTA Brits to Watch 2011 event at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles, Saturday, July 9, 2011.

The "21 Jump Street" film is due for release on March 16, 2012. Aside from Tatum and Hill, others set to star in the new movie are Rob Riggle, DeRay Davis, Dave Franco, Jake Johnson, Brie Larson, who will portray the female lead, and Ice Cube, who will play the police captain.

Johnny Depp's publicist confirmed to OnTheRedCarpet.com back in April that the actor will have a small cameo in the film. His role was not revealed. The 47-year-old actor played Officer Tom Hanson on the 1980s cop series, which helped make him famous.

"21 Jump Street" the television show also featured Holly Robinson Peete of the CBS show "The Talk" as well as Peter DeLuise and depicted young officers going undercover, often in high schools. Michael Bendetti was cast in the lead role following Depp's departure before the fifth and final season began in 1991.

Ted Danson to replace Laurence Fishburne on 'CSI'

Ted Danson will replace Laurence Fishburne on CBS' long-running drama series "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," when it returns in the fall, the network announced on Tuesday.

The 63-year-old actor will play the role of a new CSI Supervisor for the graveyard shift at Portland's crime lab on the show, which is the most-watched TV series in the world.

"You can create a new character on the page, but until the perfect actor comes along and breathes life into it, it's just words," CSI executive producer Carol Mendelsohn said in a press release. "We're very excited Ted Danson came along."

"From the moment we all started talking about the role, it was clear he couldn't be more perfect," Executive Producer Don McGill said. "Intelligence, wit, warmth, depth of character and emotion, he brings it all. And now he'll have to bring latex gloves, too."

Danson will remain a series regular on the HBO comedy series, "Bored to Death." The actor recently appeared on "Damages" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm." He is best known for his role as Sam Malone on "Cheers." He has also appeared in films like "3 Men and a Baby," "Saving Private Ryan" and "Gulliver's Travels."

Danson will next appear opposite Drew Barrymore and John Krasinsky in "Everybody Loves Whales," which is slated for release in January 2012. The actor recently published his first book, "Oceana: Our Endangered Oceans and What We Do to Save Them."

In June, it was announced that Laurence Fishburne would not reprise his role as Robert Langston on "CSI." The actor's spokesperson confirmed to OnTheRedcarpet.com on Wednesday, June 8, that Fishburne, 49, "chose not to return" to the series.

Fishburne joined "CSI" in mid-season in 2009, after series star, William Petersen, left his role as Gil Grissom in December 2009. The actor, who is likely best known for his role in "The Matrix" franchise, had been on the show for two seasons.

Marg Helgenberger, who has played crime-scene investigator supervisor Catherine Willows on the show for 11 seasons, is expected to return next season in a reduced role, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The show wrapped up its 11th season on May 12 and the 12th season is slated to premiere on Wednesday, September 21.

'Dark Knight Rises' teaser poster released - See photo

The first promotional poster for "The Dark Knight Rises," the second sequel in Christopher Nolan's critically and commercially successful reboot of the Batman franchise, hit the web on Tuesday.

In the full poster, which can be seen below, a cluster of buildings is viewed from the ground up. The crumbling skyscrapers form Batman's logo seen in the patch of visible sky.

The poster's release comes just days before the first official teaser trailer will be screened in front of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" on Friday.

In May it was reported that Matthew Modine, Tom Conti ("Reuben, Reuben") and 11-year-old actress Joey King ("Ramona and Beezus") signed on to join the cast of "The Dark Knight Rises" under director Christopher Nolan and star Christian Bale.

Warner Bros. Pictures officially announced in April that Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt had joined the cast. According to the statement from the studio carried by the Associated Press, Oscar-winner Cotillard will play a character named Miranda Tate "a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father's philanthropic endeavors for Gotham."

Both actors have worked with Christopher Nolan before in the 2010 film "Inception."

The two actors joined their fellow "Inception" co-star Tom Hardy who will play as the villain Bane, an escaped convict who gains superhuman strength due to a series of drug experiments.

Nowitzki, Mavs take big honors at ESPY Awards

AP  Entertainment NewsLOS ANGELES -- Dirk Nowitzki and his teammates were feeling so good, they broke out in another rendition of "We are the Champions."

It was definitely a fun night to be a member of the Dallas Mavericks.

Nowitzki picked up a pair of trophies, including male athlete of the year, and the Mavericks were chosen as the best team Wednesday night at the ESPY Awards. Nowitzki also won best NBA player during ESPN's live telecast from the Nokia Theatre. Rick Carlisle was named best coach for leading the Mavericks to the NBA championship.

"I've got to tell you, any party where Dirk is singing 'We are the Champions' is just the best party ever," Dallas owner Mark Cuban told reporters of the Mavs' celebration in South Beach.

Nowitzki, who was the MVP of the NBA finals, is the first NBA player to be named top male athlete since Michael Jordan in 1993.

Also nominated for the award were Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, five-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson and tennis star Rafael Nadal, who each won awards in other categories.

"This is humbling," said Nowitzki, who was talked into singing Queen's famous tune backstage. "I'm very honored to be up here tonight."

Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn won female athlete of the year for the second year in a row. She is the first female to win the honor consecutive times since Annika Sorenstam in 2005-06. Vonn won in a group that included Connecticut basketball star Maya Moore, three-time WNBA MVP Lauren Jackson and Olympic snowboarder Kelly Clark.

Saturday Night Live comedian Seth Myers hosted the show for a second straight year. He opened the telecast by joking about the NFL and NBA lockouts before taking some digs at the Miami Heat. He then cracked some jokes about Brian Wilson's unique outfit choice.

The always eccentric Wilson would have won the award for best dressed athlete, had there been one. All eyes were on the San Francisco Giants closer as he walked down the red carpet in a full-body spandex tuxedo, complete with black high-tops and a cane.

"Justin Bieber could have set himself on fire and not have had a crazier outfit than Brian Wilson," Myers told reporters.

Fresh off leading the Bruins to their first Stanley Cup crown in 39 years, Boston goaltender Tim Thomas won for best championship performance and best NHL player.

"It's been a month, but it still really hasn't sunk in what it means to the city and whole New England area," Thomas said.

Philadelphia's Roy Halladay took home two awards. The Phillies ace won as the best MLB player and for best moment for his playoff no-hitter against the Cincinnati Reds.

Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin, who burst onto the scene in winning NBA Rookie of the Year, was chosen as breakthrough athlete. Griffin won the slam dunk competition at All-Star weekend by jumping over a Kia Optima to seal the crown.

Vonn professed to having "Bieber Fever" during her acceptance speech.

"Justin Bieber, will you take a picture of me for my Facebook page?" she asked the pop star as he sat in the audience.

The best play of the year happened just days ago and went to U.S. women's national team member Abby Wambach, who headed home the game-tying goal in Sunday's dramatic win over Brazil at the World Cup.

Myers and fellow SNL cast member Bill Hader poked fun at Nowitzki in spoofing the German's unorthodox shooting style late in the telecast. The skit centered around a fake Dirk Nowitzki Basketball Camp, featuring a tagline of "The uglier the shot, the more beautiful the result."

Jay Leno presented the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance to Anthony Robles, who also won for best male athlete with a disability.

Robles was an NCAA wrestling champion despite being born with just one leg. He said his goal is to become a motivational speaker.

Dewey Bozella received the Arthur Ashe Courage award for his strength and conviction. Actor Kiefer Sutherland handed out the award to the boxer, who was imprisoned 26 years for a crime he didn't commit.

The year's best game went to the Eagles and Giants, in a contest that saw Philadelphia score 28 points in the final 7:18 to rally for a 38-31 win.

Super Bowl MVP Rodgers was honored as best NFL player and Serena Williams won for best female tennis player.

James Franco dishes on Oscar hosting gig and 'Twilight'

James Franco was not happy to dress in drag as Marilyn Monroe when he hosted the Oscars in February. In fact, he says in a new interview with Playboy that he knew his turn as co-host of the 83rd Academy Awards with Anne Hathaway was not going to be good.

"For three or four weeks we shot the promos and the little film that played in the opening. In the last week, when we really started focusing on the script for the live show and did a run-through, I said to the producer, 'I don't know why you hired me, because you haven't given me anything. I just don't think this stuff's going to be good,'" the actor told Playboy, according to USA Today.

The actor was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor for the film "127 Hours." Franco laments about a bit he did during the ceremony in which he dressed up as Marilyn Monroe. "The plan had been that I was going to sing as Cher and then Cher was going to come out onstage; that got axed when Cher and the song from 'Burlesque' weren't nominated. I told them, 'Look, this is the thing people are going to talk about, the images they will take away from the show," he said.

"I just didn't want to fight anymore, even when they said, 'You'll come out as Marilyn Monroe. It'll be funny.' Me in drag is not funny," Franco added. "There were a lot of cooks who shouldn't have been cooking but were allowed to. There were some cooks my manager tried to bring in, like Judd Apatow, who wrote some very funny stuff that wasn't used."

Franco got his big break with Apatow's beloved, but short-lived TV series "Freaks and Geeks" but didn't reach mainstream consciousness until 2002's "Spider-Man." He received an Oscar-nomination for his 2010 film "127 Hours" and has also appeared in films like "Milk," "Pineapple Express" and most recently in the medieval comedy, "Your Highness."

His latest film "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" is set for release on August 5. Franco also says that he tried to get a role on "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" for a project he was working on at Yale.

"I had my agent tell [director] Bill Condon that I'd' be happy to do anything in 'Breaking Dawn,'" the actor told the magazine, according to Access Hollywood. "But that was because it was supposed to be part of a multimedia project at Yale. I was working with a Yale undergraduate who had written an autobiographical play about putting on a theatrical production of 'Twilight' in which I was a character."

He added, "So I was interested in 'Twilight' because I was going to be part of that play. I thought what a great connection it would be if I were also involved with the real 'Twilight.'"

The actor has talked about the hit vampire franchise in the past and even said he was unimpressed with a sex scene involving Bella Swan and her vampire lover Edward Cullen in the fourth Twilight book, Breaking Dawn, which is set to become a two-part film.

"I read a part of it," Franco told MTV News back in September 2010. "I think I got to the sex scene but it was so brief, I didn't even know it was actually the sex scene. It was kind of really a letdown after all that build-up."

Mila Kunis' Marine date speaks on invite, calls Justin Timberlake a 'great wingman'

Marine Sgt. Scott Moore says he got some high-fives from his fellow Marines after word got out that the actress had accepted his YouTube invitation to attend the Marine Corps Ball with him in November.

Sgt. Moore, of the 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines in Musa Qala, Afghanistan, created the YouTube video inviting Kunis in early June. In the video, which can be seen below, Sgt. Moore says, "Hi Mila, I just want to take a moment out of my day to invite you to the Marine Corps Ball with yours truly." The ball is on November 18 in Greenville, North Carolina.

"The idea behind my YouTube invitation to Mila Kunis came about after some Marines from 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines, and I were hanging out talking. One of the Marines bet that I wouldn't make the video and post it," Sgt. Moore said in a statement obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com on Tuesday. "Of course, a bet between Marines must be honored, so I took the chance."

He added, "I always thought I had a chance, and sometimes that's all you need. The Marines I work with did their best to spread it around."

When he found out the actress had accepted the offer, Sgt. Moore said, "My initial reaction was disbelief. It's going to be a great experience to meet her, and it's going to make the ball more special for everyone." He added that he hasn't heard from the actress herself but has talked with her spokespeople.

The actress accepted the invitation during an interview with Fox News while she was being interviewed with her and "Friends With Benefits" co-star Justin Timberlake.

Timberlake reportedly told Kunis, "Have you seen this? Have you heard about this? You need to do it for your country," before promising to work on it for the Marine.

The actress then asked her publicist if she knew about the video before telling Timberlake, "I'll go, I'll do it for you. Are you going to come?"

Timberlake replied, "They don't want me! They want you."

According to Sgt. Moore, Timberlake helped him get Kunis to go. "JT and I had this all planned from the start. He's been a great wingman; it's nice to know he can get over the jealously to help a brother out -- just kidding," Sgt. Moore said. "Justin Timberlake's encouragement definitely helped; I owe him one."

Timberlake and Kunis will be seen in "Friends With Benefits" when the film hits theaters on July 22. Check out the trailer for the film and see Sgt. Moore's invite below.

Halle Berry's alleged stalker Richard Franco charged with felony

Halle Berry's alleged stalker Richard Anthony Franco was charged with felony stalking on Wednesday, OnTheRedCarpet.com has learned.

Franco, 27, is currently being held on $150,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday. Franco is on probation after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor battery charge in June and faces up to three years in state prison if convicted.

Charlize Theron dating Ryan Reynolds?

otrc logo

Has Ryan Reynolds moved on from his split from Scarlett Johansson with actress Charlize Theron?

The 34-year-old star of the film "The Green Lantern" and Theron, 35, have been dating "for months," Us Weekly magazine reported, adding that a witness "noticed Reynolds' motorcycle at Theron's home all morning on June 5, then saw the actor exit her house around 3 p.m. - and she left just minutes later."

Spokespeople for Reynolds and Theron had no immediate comment.

Theron, a South African actress who won an Oscar for her role in the 2003 film "Monster" and also starred in the 2009 movie "The Road," dated Irish actor Stuart Townsend for nearly a decade. They split up in January 2010.

Reynolds, who was deemed "Sexiest Man Alive of 2010" by People magazine, and Johansson, 26, finalized their divorce in early July. They announced in December that they would end their 2-year marriage.

The actor told Details magazine in May that he does not think he wants to marry again. Theron said on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight" earlier this month that she believes marriage is a "divine right," but has no interest in getting married in the future.

Following her split from Reynolds, Johansson was frequently seen with actor Sean Penn. The two never confirmed a relationship but were photographed together in public and also attended Reese Witherspoon's wedding. In early June, it was reported that Johansson and Penn had split.

Reynolds and Johansson appear to remain on friendly terms. People magazine reported that Reynolds and Johansson dined together on Saturday, July 9.

Pia Toscano gets record deal, set to release debut single on July 12

Pia Toscano, whose elimination from "American Idol" marked one of last season's biggest shockers, has landed a record deal.

The 22-year-old New York native signed a joint contract with Interscope Records, whose chairman, Jimmy Iovine, helped coach the contestants on the FOX singing contest, and with 19 Recordings, whose parent company co-produces "American Idol." She is set to release her debut single, "This Time," on July 12.

Toscano is "widely considered one of 'American Idol's Season 10 frontrunners, thanks to her powerhouse vocal ability and dark-haired beauty," the statement read.

The singer was eliminated from "American Idol" in April, leaving eight finalists to compete for the title, which was won by country crooner Scotty McCreery.

Toscano had earned mostly praise for her vocals during the weeks before she was voted off and according to online polls, including those on OnTheRedCarpet.com, she was voted most likely to win the FOX singing contest series.

"Toscano's early elimination shocked and visibly upset judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, and Steven Tyler," Interscope Records' statement said. "The latter said of the voting public: 'They're wrong. I don't know what happened with this. She's beautiful. When she sings, she's a bird."

McCreery and "American Idol" season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina also signed recording contracts with the firm after the show's finale in May.

The actor recently split with Allure magazine style director Siobhan Bonnouvrier, according to Us Weekly. The magazine quotes a source that claims the two split a while ago.

Producers said after its finale that a movie based on the Emmy-winning series was in the works. A first draft of a script has already been written.

Charlie Sheen to star in 'Anger Management' comedy show?

Charlie Sheen could be making a return to television, but first a production company must find someone who wants to be in charge of the troubled star.

The Hollywood Reporter claims that moviemaker Joe Roth, who has produced films like "Mona Lisa Smile" and "Alice in Wonderland," is working on a television adaptation of the 2003 Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson film "Anger Management."

Roth reportedly wants to cast Sheen in the new series and is negotiating with Lionsgate to finance and distribute the show. The actor has committed to doing the show, according to the industry paper, but the trouble is finding a quality showrunner to work with Sheen. If the right person is found, the show will work a pilot in time for consideration for the fall 2012 season.

In the series, Sheen would be playing a revamped version of Jack Nicholson's character, an ex-athlete who advises people on how to deal with anger issues.

Sheen was fired from "Two and a Half Men," one of CBS' most successful comedy shows, in March following months of personal turmoil and a slew of on-air rants against the program's co-creator.

The fate of his "Two and a Half Men" character, party-loving bachelor Charlie Harper, remains unclear. Recent reports said he may be killed off the series, which has since cast Ashton Kutcher but has not specified his role. A spokesperson for the network declined comment. Warner Bros. Television and Sheen have not responded.

The production company had said in its termination letter that Sheen had "been engaged in dangerously self-destructive conduct and appears to be very ill." Sheen called his firing "illegal" and later sued CBS and Warner Bros. Television for $100 million over his firing. The case will be sent to a private arbitrator, who will decide how the case will proceed, and will not go to trial, a Los Angeles judge ruled on June 15.

Lorre and the program's production company, Warner Bros., were ordered by the court to file a status report of the proceedings before the arbitrator on or before Nov. 30. and the case is set to be reviewed two days later, according to legal documents obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com.
