Elle Fanning talks about 'exotic creature' crush in 'We Bought A Zoo' (Video)

Elle Fanning, the younger sister of actress Dakota Fanning, is quickly building an impressive resume of her own and her latest film, "We Bought A Zoo," includes Hollywood heavyweights like Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson.

The movie stars Damon as Benjamin Mee, a widower with two children who purchases a rundown zoo. The movie is based on the true story of Mee and his family, who run the Dartmoor Zoological Park in England. Fanning plays the younger cousin of zookeeper Kelly Foster (Johansson) who develops a crush on Mee's son Dylan (Colin Ford).

"She sort of lives in her own world. She's just been surrounded by animals her whole life so she doesn't really know how to relate to people that well," Fanning said in an interview provided by the film's studio, 20th Century Fox. "Then Dylan comes in and he's like this exotic creature to her and she's trying to flirt with him but she doesn't really know how because she's never really talked to humans like that."

The movie is directed by Cameron Crowe, who is known for writing and directing films like "Almost Famous" and "Jerry Maguire." Fanning, 13, has previously starred the films "Super 8," "Somewhere," "Deja Vu" and "Babel." In addition to Crowe she's also worked with high-profile directors like David Fincher, J.J. Abrams, Francis Ford Coppola and his daughter Sophia Coppola.

One of Fanning's earliest roles was alongside Sean Penn in the 2001 movie "I Am Sam." At 2 years old, she played a younger version of her older sister Dakota Fanning's character.

"I loved coming to work all day and seeing all the animals and everything," Fanning said about working on "Zoo." "It's funny. It's really sweet. It's very like uplifting you definitely feel like, 'Wow that was such a fun movie to go see.'"

"We Bought A Zoo" hit theaters on December 23. Check out the trailer below.
