'Real Housewives of New York City' stars talk about new cast members

"The Real Housewives of New York City" will see a major change next season, with new cast members replacing the four who won't be returning.

Before the new cast member's debut, the show's three surviving veteran cast members - Ramona Singer, LuAnn DeLesseps and Sonja Morgan offered some insight into the new additions - Heather Thomson, Carole Radziwill and Aviva Drescher.

"I think it took a little while for them to get their feet wet," DeLesseps told People magazine, "but it turns out they know how to swim."

Singer already said of Heather Thompson, "If she would smile one more time, I would have smacked her face." Of Aviva Drescher, Singer said, "all of a sudden, she got possessed."

New "Real Housewives" member Heather Thomson is a designer and stylist who created the "Yummie by Heather Thomson" shapewear line. Carole Radziwill is a best-selling author and Emmy Award-winning journalist whose husband, fellow ABC News producer Anthony Radziwill died of cancer in 1999. Aviva Drescher is a New York socialite and mother of four, who lost her left leg in a farm accident when she was six-years-old.

The previews for the upcoming fifth season prove that the exit of Jill Zarin, Kelly Bensimon, Alex McCord and Cindy Barshop has not diminished the drama factor for the popular series.

The Real Housewives of New York City" debuted in 2008 and is one of several shows in the hit reality television franchise, which is known for airing heated squabbles between its cast members.

The season five premiere of "The Real Housewives of New York City" premieres on Monday, June 4 at 9 p.m. Central. Watch a preview below [Warning: Contains adult language]
