The private funeral service for Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb will be held on June 8, according to a statement from Gibb's family on May 30.
The statement, which was featured on the front page of Gibb's official website, also said that there will be a public memorial service planned for later this year and asked that donations be made to two charities in lieu of flowers.
"The funeral of Robin Gibb will take place in the UK on Friday 8 June and will be a private service for close family and friends," the statement said. "The family have requested no flowers but donations can be made to either of the following children's charities on the Isle of Man, both of which were close to the heart of Robin Gibb and his family."
The statement provided links to the charities of Rebecca House and Wish Upon A Dream.
Gibb died at the age of 62 on May 20 after a long battle with cancer. Gibb fell into a coma in April after falling ill with pneumonia, as his immune system was weakened from grueling doses of chemotherapy and two operations.
In March, Gibb underwent emergency surgery to remove a blood clot in his colon. The singer has been in and out of the hospital since October 2011.
Gibb also underwent surgery in 2010 for a blocked intestine. His twin brother Maurice, the third member of the Bee Gees, died in 2003 at age 53 in Miami. He had suffered a cardiac arrest before an emergency surgery for an intestinal blockage.
Gibb was a founding member of The Bee Gees, along with his two brothers Maurice and Barry. The group was a Grammy-winning pop and disco trio known for their falsetto sound and was formed in the late 1950s. The Bee Gees were best known for 1970s hits such as "Stayin' Alive," "How Deep Is Your Love," and "More Than a Woman," all of which were featured on the soundtrack of the 1977 dance film "Saturday Night Fever."
The family had previously lost Gibb's brother Andy Gibb, a solo singer, in 1988 from a heart ailment.
Gibb is survived by his second wife, Dwina, and four children, as well as his older brother Barry and his sister Lesley Evans, who lives in Australia.
